Nervous Tension

Nervous tension is characterized by restlessness, mental and physical unrest, emotional agitation, tension or tightness of the nerves and muscles, or a state of non-specific nervous excitation. The muscle tension causes headaches, stomach upset, muscle soreness and strain especially in the neck and shoulder area. Nervous tension is not actually a disorder, but a neuromuscular reaction to anxiety, stress or emotional conflict (either conscious or unconscious). This condition requires much greater amounts of Calcium, Magnesium, B vitamins and other specific nutrients for the body. If these nutrients are leached out of the body by excessive consumption of sugar and refined carbohydrates, or if they are lacking in the diet, they will be taken from other sources within the body. Consequently, blood vessels, bones and especially nerves and the nerve sheaths suffer in an attempt to satisfy the body’s metabolic need for calcium.

Recommended Action

All refined sugars and starches should be eliminated from the diet. Supplement with organic Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin C and B complex. Nervine herbs are good for rebuilding weakened and frayed nerves and nerve sheaths. Ener-Jazz is very useful to reduce stress.
